PostHeaderIcon Teams From England Leaders In The Champions League

English football hopes that the four Premier League clubs Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal who have made it to the quarterfinal draw will avoid each other on Friday and maybe all make it to the semifinals.

Defending champion Manchester United and Barcelona go into the draw as the bookmakers’ joint favorites at 5-2.

Both teams are in first rank of Premier League and respectively in Primera Division.

In my opinion Liverpool could be the surprise this edition of Champions League, considering the latest results that they had against Manchester United at Old Traford (4-1) and Real Madrid in the Champions League with the final outcome in both games (4-0!).

Steven Gerrard said.”We are not running scared of anybody. We will take who we get, and believe that we are going to go through,”, “If you are asking me about a fear factor in the Champions League, then I think it is the other seven teams in the draw who are going to have concerns about coming up against us after that Real Madrid result.”

Manchester United ousted Italian champion Inter Milan in the previous round and Chelsea knocked out Juventus which means there are no Italian sides left in the competition.

Porto and Villarreal are the outsiders of the eight, who are made up of five winners, two runners up and a semifinalist.

The first legs of the quarterfinals on Champions League are April 7-8 and the returns are April 14-15.

Arsenal beats Hull City 2-1 and go to the FA Cup semifinals on Tuesday.

Arsenal will meet Chelsea in a semifinal on 18.04.2009.

Hull scored first at Emirates Stadium in the 13th minute when defender Andy Dawson’s lofted pass found Nick Barmby in the area and his shot deflected off Arsenal defender Johan Djourou .

The equalizer arrive in the 75th, when Robin van Persie scored for an easy tap-in.

Then Gallas scored in the 84th minute, and help Arsenal to pass in the semifinals on FA Cup.

The last goal scored by Gallas has been challenged by those from Hull City who claim that has been marked in offsaid.

Arsene Wenger denied that Gallas was offside, he said: “The ball was deflected by the fist of the goalkeeper, consequently the ball comes from an opponent and it’s a normal goal,”, “Djourou first, the goalkeeper after, and then it was a foul on Gallas. Penalty. In fact, we should have got two goals.”
